Well, LL decided to switch to the Google map API and in the process broke my old system. I shall attempt to use the new API and look for ways to improve the Linden Land overlays. Already I have managed to
replace the previous system which used a div and an image to overlay the map div. Now I'm using a marker with the overlay image. An unfortunate side-effect of the Google map API is that we can no longer
hold the map at a steady position, moving the mouse over the map seems to reposition it to show the status of voice in that region.
Here I plan to play around with the Second Life Map API. Currently I have been scanning the mainland for Linden owned land,
with this data I've made an overlay for each sim and a big overlay for the whole mainland (of which there are four). The first reason I did this goes back a year or so to the times I toured the mainlands in a speedboat.
I needed to guess the presence of Linden waterways and would quite often get bounced by a ban line, having mapped the Linden owned land I can now plot a course to sail (or drive / fly / walk)
safe in the knowledge of no access restrictions (save for sims being too full or offline). These pages are a scribble pad for my work and not a polished finished item,
